There is a brand new design style currently emerging in the world of interior design. It marks a return of organic finshed products combined with understated Seventies detailing.

We are seeing the earthy warm tones of terracotta become a great trend, but it's so exciting to see them also being paired with organic stone-effect tiles, either highlighted with Boho style tile Murals, or encaustic style products. A warm atmospheric combination, that is taken to a different level, with the slightest nod to a period often only assocated with pop art and clashing pattern. One of the key design elements of this style is the resurgence of the once very popular Spanish arch. Seen in so many properties in the UK during the 70s, it was meant to bring just a touch of the archirectural detail found in traditional Mediterranean villas, to our cooler shores. We Brits loved the vibe they brought! Only for them to fall out of favour during the late 1980s when we decided that either minimal contemporary, or full on Victorian detailing was the only way to go!

It's great now, as with all design cycles, that 70's design is being appreciated by a new younger audience of designers who are keen to introduce it to spaces with mid century touches and natural effect wall and floor finishes. The Baked Tile Tropical Stone range, offers a charismatic collection of stone effect porcelain. This fabulously organic styled collection, focuses on a plain, relatively small format 20x20cm tile, that emulates the beauty of a simple off-white stone. To add a punch it also has a tropical inspired Mural that can be used on walls or floors, both inside and out! The tile looks equally inspiring in contemporary or retro style interiors. In this image they have paired it with our Marrakesh brick dark, which introduces an interesting floor layout design to the space.

The Baked Tile Company is a small independent family-run business based in The Mumbles, Swansea. Since 2013 they have been determined to bring new and exciting tiles to the UK market and to share their passion for tiles with their customers.
Their family’s love of beautiful tiles goes back a lot further than that though! They first started working in the industry in the 1960s and since then the Taylors have been helping homeowners and commercial projects across the UK choose the perfect tiles for their design projects. With second-generation tile guru and experienced Interior Designer Lesley Taylor (British Institute of Interior Design member) at the helm, their team of interior designers regularly scour Europe and beyond for the latest tile innovations and designs. There is nothing they love more than identifying upcoming design trends and adding them to the Baked Tile collection!
