The Marble Hardware Aesthetic by PullCast

PullCast

Marble has always been one of the most sought-after materials by interior designers and homeowners alike mainly due to its distinctive form, versatility, and durability. Concerning interior design, this versatile material pairs extremely well with natural wood accents or brass details, bringing opulence and a superior style to one’s home interiors.

Since its inception, PullCast has been using marble as a material of choice as its timeless and aesthetic value speaks for itself. Currently, this stone is handled in two of the brand’s collections: Cosmopolitan, a more architectural-oriented series, and Twist, an ensemble with a retro yet modern feel. With each design, PullCast’s designers try to mix it up and come up with various designs that best showcase the beauty of this stone while remaining faithful to the brand’s origins and mission.

Different Types of Stone

While all natural stones share some kinds of similarities, they do have their own set of characteristics that set them apart. PullCast mainly uses three types of marble in its production process: Carrara, Guatemala, and Nero Marquina. The former is favored for sculpture and decor purposes, highlighting a white or blue-gray hue, the second one is greatly preferred for its emerald green aesthetic, and the latter conveys lustrous black tones with white veins. PullCast has adopted this material in a plethora of its hardware families, including the architectural best-seller Skyline, the jewelry-inspired Tiffany, the empowering Spear, and the retro Hendrix and Quantum series.

Jewelry in the Form of Decorative Hardware

Jewelry and design are rather complementary art forms, and natural stones are often extremely appreciated in both, easily becoming a cross-reference between them. PullCast wanted to create something that brought these artistic concepts together with marble as the leading material. Then, the Tiffany Marble hardware series arose showcasing the best of both worlds. All Tiffany handles were designed to resemble unique shapes and eternal purity, bringing a new side to craftsmanship.

An Architectural Play on Geometric Shapes

The sculpted allure of marble is the perfect angle to play around with geometric forms and give incredible contours or rounded shapes to a design. A material like marble also allows the creation of more architecturally ambiguous pulls like the Skyline door hardware. These new designs feature a rounded shape enhanced in either Nero Marquina or Carrara marble and then outlined by a brass frame for a striking contrast. The same can also be said about the new Clash door lever, which also benefits from an architectural character and highlights curved attributes that make it sleek and accessible to the touch. Lastly, the Spear drawer handle possesses defined structural lines that stand out even more due to its black-and-gold appeal and grained details.

A Reference to Design Movements

PullCast envisioned marble as a great statement maker to loosely translate the ideals of some of the most significant design movements of our modern times. For instance, the atomic design age was encapsulated in the Quantum hardware, an exclusive piece with a geometric appeal that showcases rounded marble motifs on both extremities. Another example is the Hendrix pulls that not only have a musically-charged structure but also pay homage to the mid-century design style.
