Hase Bikes again relies on Schlichtmann for the new production hall

The bicycle industry is considered a crisis winner in the pandemic. The Waltrop-based manufacturer Hase Bikes is also benefiting from the bicycle boom. "Due to the economic growth of the industry, we get significantly more orders," explains Marec Hase, Managing Director of Hase Bikes. The company has recorded economic growth of 10 to 20 percent in recent years. The associated challenge is the procurement of materials. All the more important: correspondingly large areas to store bikes and materials. “The new hall gives us much larger production capacities. We are hoping for growth of up to 60 percent for the coming year," says Hase.
Hase Bikes started in Bochum in 1994 with two employees. Today the company employs 97 people. "With the new building, we are planning to increase our workforce so that we will soon have over 100 employees," explains Hase. In 2001 the company moved to Waltrop. The first order for Schlichtmann Hallenbau came in 2008, and the next one followed seven years later. “We are not only very satisfied with the halls from Schlichtmann. The cooperation is also running smoothly,” says Hase.
New next to old
In July 2021, the groundbreaking ceremony for the third production hall took place near the site of the listed Waltrop colliery. Next to the 100-year-old area is an industrial area on which the new hall is located. Hase Bikes manufactures special bikes that are stored and produced in the building: Today, the bike specialist has even more space for tandems, recumbent bikes and other custom-made products. In the existing halls there is now more space for storage and mechanical workshops.
And as with previous orders, Schlichtmann Hallenbau demonstrated its construction expertise, as Hermann Schlichtmann, Managing Director at Schlichtmann Hallenbau, says: "We put our heart and soul into every project. Materials and equipment with high quality standards form the basis for Schlichtmann-Hallen.” The Heeker company took on all services - from the foundation work to the window installation to the interior design with local companies. In addition, the property has an energy concept and a good indoor climate thanks to climate floors.
Schlichtmann Hallen finally handed over the property in December 2021, just in time for Christmas. Marec Hase was impressed by the planning security of Heeker. “Due to the corona pandemic, the construction industry is also characterized by uncertainties. With Schlichtmann, we had a proven partner at our side and were able to move into the hall on time,” reports Hase. Hase Bikes is currently busy with the interior design of the hall. The construction of a showroom for partners and trainees is also planned. Due to the high demand, however, the company is using the new building for production at an early stage.
Marec Hase considers further cooperation to be quite possible: “In the past we built a new hall every seven years. We assume that the trend will continue and will then come back to Schlichtmann Hallenbau. Hermann Schlichtmann is also looking forward to future projects with Hase Bikes: “Working together was pleasant, constructive and solution-oriented. We would be delighted to receive another order.”
